Health Insurance Enrollment
The Institute for Advanced Study requires that all incoming scholars have health insurance coverage for themselves and all eligible dependents who accompany them.
If you elected to enroll in one of the health insurance plans offered through
the Institute, it is necessary to visit the Human Resources Office (Fuld
101/102) as soon as possible after your arrival to complete your insurance
application forms. When you enroll, Roberta Gernhardt (
; ext. 8245) or
Beatrice Jessen (
; ext. 8243) can answer your questions
concerning your chosen health insurance plan. It is recommended that you become
familiar with the provisions of your plan before medical services may be needed.
An Exchange Visitor must have health/medical insurance for him/herself and all J-2 family members which meet the minimum requirements as required by the federal regulations governing the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program:
- $50,000 minimum per accident or illness
- $500 maximum deductible per illness
- $10,000 provision for medical evacuation
- $7,500 maximum for repatriation coverage
