Maintenance Mechanic/Mason Helper

JOB TITLE:              Maintenance Mechanic/Mason Helper            

SUPERVISOR:         Maintenance Mechanic/Mason

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Maintenance Mechanic/Mason Helper position is responsible for general masonry and preventative maintenance duties under the lead of the Maintenance Mechanic/Mason.
  • Assists Mason in mixing, color blending, forming, building, and repairing of various concrete, brick, and cinderblock structures.  Assists Mason in smoothing and finishing surfaces of placed concrete which may include floors, walls, sidewalks, steps, or curbs to specific textures, following specific work orders and utilizing appropriate supplies, equipment, and manual, power, or pneumatic masonry tools.
  •  May perform other masonry maintenance work such as demolition and preparation for masonry work, following specific work orders and utilizing appropriate supplies and equipment as directed by the Mason.
  •  Works effectively with Mason and maintenance specialty; e.g., painting, electricity, carpentry, etc., to ensure a quality end product that is completed within established timeframes.
  •  Ensures that all masonry equipment and supplies are maintained in a safe and secure environment at all times as directed by the Mason; e.g., hoses, mixing equipment, tools, materials, ladders, scaffolding, etc.
  •  Provides assistance to other maintenance areas, as needed, including snow removal, furniture moving, and various other general maintenance activities.
  •  May perform additional job duties as assigned.

 REQUIREMENTS:

  •  High School diploma or equivalent.
  •  At least two years of masonry experience required.
  •  A valid driver’s license.
  •  Ability to lift and carry seventy-five pounds.  Ability to follow written and verbal directions.  Ability to set, climb and perform work on ladders and scaffolding at various heights.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work will involve exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require extensive safety precautions.
